SAMURAI 1/12scale TOYOTA SUPRA A80 (Silver) [No.KSR12006S]
Description
■ Resin model
As Toyota’s flagship sports car, the Supra A80 underwent a model change in 1993 with the design catchphrase "THE SPORTS OF TOYOTA" and evolved into a more complete sports car than the previous A70.
Its wheelbase was shorter in length than the previous model, but greater width and tread created a dynamic wide and low exterior form. The large rear spoiler combined with a front active spoiler, which automatically deploys and retracts depending on the speed, to demonstrate Toyota’s focus and advances in aerodynamics.
Aligned to its formidable appearance, the powertrain was equipped with a 3-liter inline 6-cylinder 2JZ engine with naturally aspirated and twin-turbo options. The twin-turbo spec delivered 280ps/44.0kg-m which was world-class at the time and the 6-speed manual transmission was made by Getrag of Germany.
A new four-wheel double wishbone suspension was developed to handle the higher power. Twin-turbo models also featured different-sized front and rear tires and Bilstein shock absorbers. 17-inch tires and large-capacity brakes were adopted a year after the model change to further enhance performance.
