    ■ Resin model
The Fairlady Z and the GT-R are Nissan’s proud contribution to the world of sports cars. Today presents a challenging environment for sports cars with internal combustion engines as the industry focusses on the demands for carbon-neutral and all-electric vehicles. Meanwhile the new Fairlady Z prototype premiered online in September 2020, paying homage to the original Fairlady Z S30 that was released 50 years ago with its modern adaptation of the stunning exterior design that started with the S30. Maintaining this standard of design is a daunting task, but it has been executed to perfection.
Although announced as a prototype, the redesigned appearance and new engine give the impression that the new Fairlady Z is close to a full model change, but it the retains the same platform as the current Z34. However, the drastic changes leave almost no remnants of the current Z34, and therefore it is accurate to call it a new model. In accordance with the demands of modern times, the engine has been downsized from the conventional naturally aspirated 3.7 liter V6 (336ps) to a 3.0 liter V6 twin turbo (VR30DDTT), which is the same unit installed in the 400R V37 Skyline. As the name suggests, it is undoubtedly more powerful than before based on the 400ps.
Nissan announced the commercial model of the Z in August 2021 in its main market of North American, however Kyosho has based its model recreation on the prototype that was premiered in September 2020. The body color is finished in squid yellow, which is bright to the eyes. Since it is a body model based on actual vehicle design data for the prototype, the proportions are perfected to the point that you notice the fine curve replication in the body panels and the press lines. Kyosho has released other miniature cars based on the Fairlady Z in various formats, but this is the first time that model has been created based on a prototype. The epoch-making Fairlady Z will be the one model that defines your mini car collection.
