The 1/18 scale Lamborghini Miura P400 is the newest release in the Kyosho Original Mini Car Series. This iconic sports car was Lamborghini’s first mid-engine V12 model and marked a pivotal moment for the Italian automaker. The unnamed prototype captured global attention at the 1965 Turin Motor Show, featuring a transversely mounted 4.0-liter V12 in a mid-engine layout. Unlike Ferrari, which focused on racing, Lamborghini had always emphasized crafting luxurious grand tourers. Known only as the TP400, the exposed chassis sparked speculation that Lamborghini was shifting focus towards motorsport. The sheer potential of the prototype electrified the crowd, signaling the arrival of something truly groundbreaking.
At the 1966 Geneva Motor Show, Lamborghini finally revealed the finished concept car—now adorned with a sleek Bertone-designed body that combined classic elegance with modern innovation. It was here that the name “Lamborghini Miura P400” was officially introduced to the world. With its race-inspired engine and chassis paired with stunning design, the overwhelming response led Lamborghini to accelerate production of this revolutionary supercar.

First launched in 1991, the Kyosho Original Mini Car Series showcases Kyosho’s long history of producing exquisite mini cars. Today, the series includes various scales such as 1/12, 1/18, and 1/43, but it originally started with the 1/18 scale. By utilizing this relatively large size for a diecast mini car model, the series has maintained its founding philosophy of accurately replicating the proportions of real vehicles while featuring high levels of detail in areas such as the engine and interior.
A die-cast model is a miniature car made using a body formed by pouring molten non-ferrous alloy into a metal mold. This type of model is well-suited for mass production. While it cannot achieve the same level of fine detail as a resin model, it offers the unique appeal of metal, including a solid weight, durability, and minimal aging over time.
